Ayurveda

Ayurveda is an inexhaustible source of knowledge that exists, according to the Vedas, from the inception of the world. Ayurvedic science is based on the knowledge of three doshas, the body's energies, which regulate all physiological and psychological processes in the body. Each person is different and has a unique proportion of these three energies. Vata, Pitta and Kapha, the three doshas, give unique physical and personality traits.

When Vata dosha or Wind energy dominates, people are usually tall, slender, enthusiastic, curious, unstable, indecisive, and creative, love to travel and socialize. Pitta or Fire dominant person usually is of medium built, energetic, active, short-tempered, critical and self- righteous. Kapha or Earth type people are usually short, stocky, prone to gain extra weight, lenient, benevolent, tend to store emotions, act slowly, postpone things and love to have extra sleep.

It is not very common to find a person with only one dosha dominating. Usually two doshas predominate or, in very rare cases, a person shows traits of all three doshas. Each person is an amazing and complex being, who seeks, according to the Vedic scriptures, to have a long, successful and happy life.

Ayurvedic science gives life style and nutritional guidelines for Vata, Pitta and Kapha types. These guidelines help to keep the dominant energies balanced and maintain health and inner well being.

Modern civilization gives more comfort in everyday life with high technology products, yet the quick pace of life often takes away little joys and may disguise the true values and meaning of life. Ayurveda provides the life-long principles how to maintain a healthy relationship between body, mind and soul and helps restore the link between man and nature. Ayurvedic principles are easy to understand and adopt. They do not require extensive practices or big sacrifices. We can start with small things and pay more attention to our food, thoughts and emotions and products that we use in our everyday life.
